CHRISTMAS CAPER Christmas Caper 2010 - Sunday, 19th December 2010 Entry Form 2010 [details soon...]
One of the most challenging multi-terrain runs in the South West,
covering approximately nine miles, and
featuring as much of the mud, hills, woods, rivers, forests and country lanes
Torrington has to offer (oh, and not forgetting mud, mud and water too!). Minimum age is 16. The event starts and finishes at Torrington Rugby Club where you will find showers, beers and Christmas cheer! This link is the Caper Route. To move around the map, users need to arrow right, left, up or down and follow the red line. Christmas Caper 2009 The course measured approximately 10 miles and, despite the icy conditions, 215 brave souls took part on what can only be described as an extreme test of endurance on the very last Sunday before Christmas. Temperatures were barely breaking 4C in the sun, and going below freezing in the bitter winds, with -3C in the shade. This didn't put off the first man in, with Colchester's Chris Sellen gaining 2 minutes on Bideford's Mark Jenkin, to win in a time of 65.12. This year's Caper was an extra half a mile and extremely icy, so a true comparison against previous years is not possible really. We are putting together a history of Caper distances and previous times so watch this space. Well done to all the runners and to our very own club members Torrington AAC and to our prize winners - Marilyn Blair 1st VL45 82.16 Jim Jennings 1st VM60 78.53 Steve Hay 3rd VM 5074.14 Thanks go to Hils, Dave and Jess, who are samba band Pulse, banging out beats all over the course, and keeping runners spirits up. Well done all you marshalls, volunteers, baggage handlers, registration staff, our back marker, timekeepers, water station marshalls and race organisers, and of course Santa! There are too many names to list, but all did a fantastic job in the freezing cold, and worthy of a mince pie or two back at the Rugby Clubhouse. Thanks to all who managed to get here in one piece from near and far, and we very much look forward to seeing you in again. Read what some of you had to say about the Caper.
